The new song is here! This has been a breakthrough journey for me as it really caused me to get out of my comfort zone and do some things I hadn't done before. I mean, every new release over the last few years has done that in one way or another, but this time it involved me moving past the limits of my little man-cave production/living room, and I invited my friend to play bass. As a result, the song went from a "10" to an "11". (A "This is Spinal Tap" reference, as every musician knows.) Thank you, Tyler. I'm sorry you had to spend hours in my boiling-hot apartment without air conditioning during a heat wave.

What is the song about? Well, I was standing in downtown Seattle last year waiting for a bus to take me to Queen Anne. These two religious missionaries (I won't say what creed/denomination they were from, but they weren't part of my church - thank God) came up to me and wanted me tell me all about their church and ask if I'd heard about their religious text and their prophet. OK, I'll give a hint: They were the kind who wear the name tags and the neckties. You've probably seen them around.

Anyway, while we were discussing why I wasn't going to join their religious cult, I noticed there was a homeless man sleeping on the ground near us. The two guys didn't pay any attention to him, because I guess they thought I would make a better fit for their church, being clean shaven and all. You know, Jesus would have been more interested in calling sinners than the righteous, but whatever.

After the two guys gave up on me and left, some workers from King County Metro (the local bus service) came by to get on the next bus and start their shift. They saw the homeless guy on the ground, and one of them bent down and asked: "Hey, man. Are you OK?" He had to repeat this a few times until the guy finally responded and nodded.

It really was that simple. Maybe I or the religious guys should have thought of that earlier, if we'd been paying attention to what Jesus actually calls us to do.

Anyway, check out this video I made last week that does a deep dive into all the sound elements that give the song its quality. Then go to the "Music" page right here at cellsignalmusic.com and click on your streaming service to hear the song. Thank you for listening to and supporting Cellular Signal! -Shayne
